In June 2018, we held an event, “Chips” and Salsa with Marshall. We provided micro”chips” for pets at a discounted rate of $15(each) along with “chips” and salsa for our human attendees. We also handed out a Go Bag Starter Kit containing goodies and information about emergency preparedness. Marshall from Paw Patrol was available for pictures with pets, children, and families.

In April 2018, we held a Pet Memorial Service honoring the lives of the pets we have lost. During the service, we played a slide show and unveiled a special new addition to our garden. Thank you to all who came to share this special time with us.
In March 2018, we held our 2nd Annual Easter Party in the Park for Pets. We had a wonderful time and met many new faces. We had an egg hunt for dogs and pictures with the Easter Bunny. In December 2017 we held our 2nd annual Pet Pictures with Santa. It was a great turn out! Thank you to Gale Photography for taking the pictures. Cost for the picture was a donation of canned goods. In October 2017, we sponsored our 2nd annual Canines in Costumes at Compton Park. It was another great success! We had guest judges from Crossfit Alexandria. In April, we sponsored an Easter Party for Pets. The party featured an Easter egg hunt for dogs and pet pictures with the Easter Bunny. The dogs had a blast searching for Easter Eggs! Through out the months of January and February we hosted a Biggest Loser competition for pets. We had 26 participants. It was very successful. They lost a total of 84 lbs as a group. We held a big finale event at our hospital on March 2nd where we weighed the contestants for the final time and announced the winners.
Heidi Faulkenberry and Bert Bertrand were our overall winners for largest percentage of body weight lost. Lucky Pierce and Bentley Schooler won our People’s Choice vote on Facebook. Molly Riche’ and Lucky Pierce won the Doctors choice award.
We also donated $10 to the Manna House per each participant. We presented a check in the amount of $260 to Mrs. Jessica Viator of the Manna House.

Several local businesses and organizations passed out candy to the children. Our staff shared information about proper pet care and our newly released wellness plans. We had a great time and hope to see everyone again at the next event!

Our staff shared information about the symptoms of heat stroke and what to do if your pet is displaying those symptoms. We hope to have another event for families and their pets in the near future. In July we installed a Pet Waste Station at the New Holiday Inn – Downtown Alexandria. Thank you to the owners for partnering with us on this project.
